Business Management Services
This customer is a prominent business management
firm, based in California servicing the business
needs of busy professionals and entertainers.
They specialize in handling their clients complete
business affairs, including asset and cash management,
investments, trusts, corporations, tax planning
and tax preparation. All financial related statements
and documents, from each of their clients, are
delivered directly to the management company
for processing.
Their custom enterprise application is built
upon Dynamic's dL4 development language. Running
on SCO Unix, their system supports 128 concurrent
user sessions, plus an unlimited number of document
requests from the web.
The Challenge
Each month, after all documents are processed,
invoices and bills paid, bank statements reconcilled,
etc., detailed financial reports are prepared
for each client. Many clients and families have
numerous corporations and business entities.
Reports proceed through a multi-step approval
process, first by the account manager, the CPA
and finally the partner responsible for the
account. At each step, corrections can be made,
or the documents can be sent back in the approval
process. After all approvals are obtained, printed
and bound copies of the financial documents
are mailed to the client.
This customer consistently exceeds their clients
expectations and has no hesitation in adopting
new technology which increases customer service
and satisfaction. They wanted to move to a more
paperless system, whereby reports and documents
could be archived and printed at any later date.
Furthermore, they wanted to implement an electronic
document approval process and eliminate the
mailing of sensitive financial information to
their clients.
The Solution
Dynamic proposed and developed both an intranet
and extranet application, combining the technologies
of dL4 and dynamicXport. An internal web-based
workflow application was created, allowing monthly
financial documents to be generated by dL4 and
then approved through a browser interface. After
final approval, clients automatically receive
an email informing them that their reports are
available online.
Through the security afforded by dynamicXport,
all customer data and reports remain securely
behind the firewall at the corporate offices.
A front-end web server, co-located in Dynamic's
data center, provides individual client logins
to review financial documents. Senior staff
are also able to use the web interface to review
and approve client documents when they are away
from the office.
