Beta Versions of UniBasic/dL4 ODBC (Linux / SCO) Now Available | | Friday February 11, 2005 |
The first release of UniBasic/dL4 ODBC is now available for immediate download for the SCO Unix and Linux platforms. The final release will be available on all of Dynamics standard platforms**.
This first of several beta releases supports Indexed Contiguous data files in read-only mode. This release will automatically expire and no special SSN is required to test this version.
Dynamic ODBC consists of two components the ODBC server which is installed on your UniBasic/dL4 system and the ODBC client which is installed on each PC requiring access to your data files.
ODBC provides access to your UniBasic and dL4 databases from any ODBC-compliant application, such as Microsoft Access, Excel or Crystal Reports. The included read-me files explain the installation process, as well as the creation of data dictionaries which describe the individual files, keys and fields.
We regret that telephone support is not available during the beta testing period. For questions or comments, please select Support: Help Desk: at www.dynamic.com , register, login and open a support ticket. We will respond to all requests within (48) hours.
ODBC FOR DL4 & UNIBASIC LICENSING
The upcoming UniBasic 8 and dL4 release 6 will include the ODBC server and client modules, at no additional charge, for use by the authorized UniBasic or dL4 users licensed on the server. Access is RESTRICTED to use by internal users, as defined in the UniBasic and dL4 runtime licenses. Additional license fees, and/or the purchase of a dynamicXport license is required to access Dynamic ODBC from a web server, web or Internet application, or for the creation or delivery of real time or static data intended for other than internal users. For additional information on deployment, contact sales@dynamic.com
All UniBasic/dL4 indexed data files, including those with different character sets and numeric formats, (i.e. BITS, IRIS, IMS, IEEE, Portable and Universal) are supported.
** If you are using a platform other than Linux or SCO Unix, you can test ODBC by deploying a small Linux system which network mounts your primary server. Universal or portable files are required to access files across dissimilar platforms.
