dL4 is the development platform for
creating serious business applications. Built
upon a modern superset of the Business BASIC
programming language, the most popular development
language in use today, dL4 is easily learned
and readily accepted by customers. Modular design
and extended features and functions ensure easy
development and support of network and business
applications. A wide-range of platforms are
supported, including AIX, Apache, Apple OS X,
HP/UX, IBM, Linux, SCO, Solaris and True-Unix
and Windows. dL4 is an evolutionary product
for existing applications written in other BASIC's,
including BITS, IRIS, NIROS, MICOS, IDOS, Basic
4, UniBasic and IMS.
The upcoming release 6 includes the dL4
ODBC server, providing access to dL4 and UniBasic
data files from any ODBC compliant application
- including Microsoft Access and Crystal Reports.
Additionally, this release includes the dynamic
paper printer drivers and a general ODBC driver
allowing your applications to access other ODBC
complaint databases.
Subscribers to Software Assurance are entitled
to this release at no charge.
As customers deploy GUI and web-enabled applications,
Intranets and relational databases, they demand
technology which operates seamlessly across
traditionally incompatible hardware and operating
systems. All dL4 applications and databases
are portable and may be accessed or executed,
simultaneously, from a wide range of Unix, Mac
and Windows platforms. Whether you need a single
user Mac or Windows PC, a Unix, Mac or Windows
server, or any combination of dissimilar systems,
dL4 is the development language you need to
remain competitive.
dl4 includes dL4Term, a small footprint character
and GUI network terminal, and a number of standard
drivers for character terminals, data files
and databases. Relational database drivers are
available for Microsoft SQL and MySQL.
Built-in Internet capability, supporting such
functions as e-mail and socket connections,
enable applications to easily communicate with
other users and systems. Developers may extend
the language to connect to a variety of industry-standard
database engines and display technologies.
dL4 integrates with dynamicXport to web-enable
your existing applications and data. ASP
licenses for dL4 allow the delivery of legacy
or web-enabled applications over the Internet
and you have the option of using our data center
and servers to seamlessly deliver your applications.
