LINUX
UPDATE IQ Version
4.1 for Linux is now available
! FOR THE
TECHNICAL
CROWD: UniBasic Version 7.2 does
not support Huge datafiles on systems, such as Open Server 5, which do not
include the necessary operating system
extensions. Until more
platforms are available, Version 7.2 is only available from our public ftp
site: http://www.dynamic.com/dist/pub/ In the near future, version 7.2 will become the default
version on www.dynamic.com. Version 3.7.2 of
the Passport software has been released for Linux. This new release
corrects problems with software licensing under RedHat 7.1. The
release also contains an updated ppconfig utility that runs correctly
under RedHat 7.1. The new version should be compatible with RedHat 6.x and
existing Linux installations, but any Linux 6.x system which is upgraded
to Linux 7.x will need to have
the license recreated (a RedHat 6.x license file can not be used with
RedHat 7.1)
NEW TERM FILE FOR SCO 5.0.6
CONSOLE: SCO OpenServer release 5.0.6 has
changed the default behavior of the console and the
standard terminal file shipped
with UniBasic does not work
correctly. A new, beta terminal definition file,
"term.scoansi.5.0.6" is available from
our public ftp site: ftp://ftp.dynamic.com/dist/pub/99/iris/term.scoansi.5.0.6 UniBasic 7.2
for SCO will include the new terminal driver. UBCOMPRESS BUG
AFFECTS TRANSFERRING FILES: A
problem, recently reported by a customer, was discovered when moving
Universal data files from a
big-endian byte ordered machine (non-Intel, non-Alpha) to an Intel machine. The key [index] portion of the relocated file was
unreadable. The
problem stems from a bug in ubcompress packaged with UniBasic 6 and
7. While such ubcompressed
files REMAIN COMPLETELY USEABLE on the machine on which
they were compressed, moving such
files to an Intel/Alpha platform results in those files being unreadable. This bug has been fixed in UniBasic 7.1.1.2, and higher. If you are
contemplating an upgrade for any of your customers, which includes moving
Universal data files from AIX, SOLARIS, MOTOROLA, DG AVIION or HP to an
Intel machine, you must first
obtain and run the current version of ubcompress
on the files before they are moved. A special option has been
added to ubcompress to scan and fix any such files. We intend to port a current version of
ubcompress for each affected platform and place standalone copies on our
ftp.dynamic.com site. Please note that the files are perfectly good as long as
they remain on their native platforms. This fix is only required if the
files are being moved to a different
platform. |
