UniBasic to dL4 Conversion Package now available !

The UniBasic to dL4 conversion package is now available for beta testing.  Designed to streamline, simplify and automate the conversion process, ub2dl4 is a conversion tool for the UNIX platform.  It converts UniBasic programs, printer scripts, terminal drivers, and UNIX profile files.  It also generates an analysis report.  Prerequisites are documented in the read_me file: http://www.dynamic.com/dist/pub/FF/ub2dl4/readme.txt

dL4 Version 5, already in beta, offers compelling reasons to migrate your existing UniBasic and IMS applications now:
  • Compatibility features, options and utilities to migrate from UniBasic or IMS to dL4
  • MySQL driver adds relational database drivers to Linux and Unix systems
  • Multi-Sessions - use dL4Term to launch multiple Unix or Windows dL4 sessions on a PC without paying the full price for additional dL4 users
  • Modern platform makes it easier to hire and retain developers
  • GUI and web technologies simplify the enhancement of your core applications
LINUX UPDATE FOR UNIBASIC and dL4

While the current releases of UniBasic and dL4 run under RedHat 7.x and Caldera 3.1, the development kits are not compatible with these releases.

If you use the DCI development kits to link in custom calls, etc., you must retain your 6.1/6.2 Linux development system until such time as we release a version for Linux 7.x.  Apparently, the Linux developers believe more in functionality than in compatibility between releases.  The same issue existed prior to DCI releasing development kits for RedHat 6.

We will upgrade the standard Linux porting platform to 7.x later this year adding support for huge files, but the new versions will likely be incompatible with older versions of Linux.
