MySQL & Color GUI -> dL4 5.2 Beta Now Available

dL4 and dL4Term 5.2 beta versions are now available for SCO Open Server 5.06, Linux and Windows at: ftp.dynamic.com/dist/pub

Highlights of this Release include:
  • Color control in GUI elements including character by character color in list boxes
  • Support for double clicking on list box items in GUI elements
  • A new Full-ISAM driver to access database tables from MySQL servers
  • An enhanced Full-ISAM Bridge driver converts data types for greater compatibility with existing programs using Indexed file methods to access Full-ISAM files and SQL tables
  • New USB and Parallel passport devices for Windows simplify licensing by recording the SSN within the device for easy portability between and PC's and notebooks
In order to simplify MySQL installations, DCI has obtained the approval from the licensor to embed the MySQL libraries within dL4.  For each user installation, it is necessary to install and configure a MySQL server.  The license to operate a MySQL server commercially will be enabled with the SSN whenever you order the dL4/MySQL option.  We are working with the licensor on pricing for end-user installations.  Beta versions and development or evaluation server licenses are available at no charge.

A second beta will be released in late January, including among other enhancements, a full-screen option for dL4Term.

Please review the readme files, online or within the distribution, prior to installation.  When installing dL4 for Windows, install the Passport software included with the distribution.

Requirements for Use:
The beta period is scheduled to end January 31, 2003 and the software will not run after February 28, 2003.

This release requires an SSN authorized for release 5 of dL4.  In order to use the MySQL driver, the SSN must be authorized for the dL4/MySQL option.  The dial-up demonstration licensing system automatically generates licenses for release 5, including the MySQL option.

The Windows release requires a license number beginning with 1B and will NOT run with older SSNs that use a license number beginning with "FE".
