June 1, 1995: Altos/SCO Platform Unification

Altos now ships a standard SCO product with its systems. DCI has unified Platform 15 (Altos) and Platform 99 (SCO Unix). Current and future DCI product releases for SCO Unix commencing at the revisions listed to the right are "unified" binaries and are supported on both SCO and Altos systems.

Plan to install unified binaries on both Altos and SCO based systems as soon as possible. Commencing August 1, 1995, Passport devices will no longer be available specifically for Altos.

New orders for Passport devices for Altos installations will receive SCO devices. Existing Altos installations with Passport devices are compatible with the unified binaries. Existing Altos installations without a Passport device may require relicensing.

Support and update services for Altos will be combined with SCO. Technical support will continue with the exception of creating any new Altos-specific versions. Should you require an upgrade to any specific version which is not already available, a unified binary must be installed. Customers on Annual Maintenance for Altos will automatically be covered under SCO.

The following list represents the version numbers at which the new unified Platform 99 commences:

Passport 3.4
UniBasic 5.4
UniBasic-N 8.2
NexGen 1.20
UniBasic-IQ 3.2
IMT 2.1
