June 1, 1996: UniBasic-IQ 3.1.2 Available

Dynamic Concepts Incorporated is pleased to announce the release of Intelligent Query (IQ) 3.1.2 for June 1996.

4 Target Improvement Areas

IQ 3.1.2 focuses improved design and function on four specific areas:

  1. a Fast-Search mechanism is now employed for those Wild-Card key searches which select a Begins-With key
  2. the ddmaint utility has been improved to issue an error correctly when specifying other than a UniBasic-IQ dictionary file
  3. ends IQ's erroneous issuance of a message, "Reserved," when a security violation occurs; the proper message now appears
  4. corrects an error that occurred when background print jobs were submitted when the procedure contained a "PROMPT" statement. These print jobs are now executed error-free

New Utility Unveiled

IQ 3.1.2 includes a new utility, ddrefmt, which automates data dictionary conversion. A data dictionary conversion which formerly took hours now takes only minutes -- it can be done over a lunch hour, instead of over a weekend. Once the ddrefmt is complete, all you have to do is run ddload. ddrefmt requires your original data files, and it is designed for complete portability between platforms.
