New Releases Available Now

DCI is pleased to announce Release 2.2 of the dL4 development system and runtime language, containing many enhancements and improvements made in response to user needs, and also Release 1.2 of dL4 Samples and Utilities, featuring software to expand and strengthen dL4 processing.

Please remember that dL4 is packaged and distributed as three (3) separate items: Runtime, Development and Samples & Utilities. All distributions include readme files and licensing information.

dL4 Release 2.2

Enhancements include:

• The SCOPE DISPLAY command prints precision of numeric variables and dimension of string variables
• The INPUT statement treats "TIM-1" as a timeout of zero seconds, to check for typeahead.
• Character conversion routines perform translations to support graphic character printing for later lptfilter utility conversion.
• FoxPro Full-ISAM files support non-ASCII lower case characters in indices with UPPERCASE option.
• SHELL environmental variable used whenever a shell command is executed.
• Unlimited number of libraries supported

Release 2.2 answers reported bugs with many additional enhancements to statements, drivers, and internal processing.

Sample & Utilities Release 1.2

Highlights of the new release include the query.bas utility, which displays the type and characteristics of a file ? designed especially for use in obtaining file information. Another 1.2 headliner is pgmdump.c, a sample intrinsic CALL to dump program status information for debugging.

Other samples and utilities include: the Universal Printer Filter Processor (lptfilter.c), popular user CALLs from UniBasic/IRIS/BITS, display of Unicode characters (showunic.bas), Sample Conversion Profile (convert.prf), and Convert idx-ctg to Full-ISAM using the bridge driver.
