The IMS to dL4 Migration utilities convert Formatted, Indexed and Contiguous files. Data records do not require mapping or conversion, because dL4 natively processes the IMS numeric and character sets. IMS/Basic program text files are syntactically formatted and automatically compiled into dL4. To ensure the greatest compatibility and simplify migrations, dozens of IMS/Basic specific features and CALLs were added to dL4.
